SPITFIRE BALLPOINT PEN

SPITFIRE BALLPOINT PEN

The idea of designing and producing a pen from the propeller of a World War II Spitfire was the result of a conversation with a customer who was also a propeller manufacturer.

The pen body is turned by hand on a lathe similar to those used in the 1940's and each one will vary in colour and grain structure depending upon which part of the propeller was used.
The pen is turned from solid brass and hand polished with a nickel plated finish. It has a push button mechanism that retracts the Parker ' Gel ' Parker ballpoint or Schmidt easy-flow refill.
The original propeller serial number R4723 is laser engraved onto each pen making it a unique piece of World War II history.

THE HISTORY OF WOODEN PROPELLER DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
Horden - Richmond Aircraft Ltd was started by Frederick Gordon - Lennox the 9th Duke of Richmond and Edmund Horden. Together they developed hydulignum the compressed wood from which they made their propeller blades. During World War II spitfire propellers were made by ROTOL in Gloucester.

THE PEN IS BOXED WITH ONE EXTRA REFILL  AND A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY.
